Based out of Echizen, Yu Kurosaki has focused his career on creating not just functional kitchen knives, but unforgettable pieces of art. He has been certified by the Japanese government as a "Dentokogeshi" or Master of Traditional Crafts - recognising his skills and expertise in traditional knife making.
The Shizuku collection translates to "droplets", describing the unique hammering on the blades depicting drops of water beating down on a rainy day. This collection is hand forged by Kurosaki-san, and made with SG2 powdered steel which has incredible edge retention and will stay sharp for a long time. SG2 is a premium stainless steel made from a process called Powder Metallurgy, where the steel is formed by heating compacted metal powder. In the case of SG2, this results in a fine-grained, high-alloy steel which contributes to its superb edge retention that is superior to other popular stainless steels (e.g. VG10, Ginsan, AUS8).
