Tsunehisa translates to "Permanence", named after the idea that good knives will last you a lifetime. The brand prioritises functionality and affordability - resulting in a carefully curated selection of knives that anyone can appreciate. Tsunehisa's knives are made by a collective of blacksmiths and sharpeners across Sakai, Tosa and Seki. The brand was founded by Takayuki Shibata, world reknown for being an excellent knife sharpener and also the founder of Masakage, Koutetsu & Tinker. Over the years, Shibata-san has built close relations with many skilled blacksmiths across Japan, playing a huge role in growing the presence of Japanese kitchen knives internationally.

Featuring a high performing stainless steel, this series is crafted with SRS13 stainless steel. SRS13 is a premium stainless steel made from a process called Powder Metallurgy (PM), where the steel is formed by heating compacted metal powder. This results in an ultra-fine grain structure with high carbide concentration, leading to a knife blade that will stay sharp for a long time. Compared to SG2 / R2 (another popular PM steel), SRS13 is superior in its edge retention & toughness. If you're looking for a top performing knife, this is definitely one to consider.
