New in 2026: Timemore Black Mirror Basic 3
The Basic 3 features a new "MODE switch" to quickly toggle between Manual, Pourover and Espresso Modes. Additionally, a new "RATIO read-out" is available in Manual and Pourover Modes, allowing you to easily brew without calculating ratios beforehand. The overall footprint of the Basic 3 is around 10% smaller than the Basic 2 and its height is 35% shorter compared to the Basic 2. This makes the Basic 3 suitable for a wider array of espresso machines and cups.

Basic 3's improvements over the Basic 2 include:
1) Accuracy at lower weights. The Basic 3 is accurate down to weights as small as 0.2g, whereas the Basic 2 is only accurate above 0.5g
2) Improved static shielding in the Basic 3 should prevent weight drifting issues over time
3) Around 10% improved battery life

Overall, we see the Basic 3 as an incremental improvement to the already excellent Basic 2 scale. If you toggle between Modes often OR if the "RATIO read-out" is something you will use often, the Basic 3 is definitely worth the upgrade.
