The Seki Kanetsugu Shiun series features a variety of unique handles with lots of personality. The Burnt Lacquer handles are our personal favorite, made from lacquered Oak wood and reminiscent of the Shou Sugi Ban （ 燒杉板 ）technique which involves charring wood. Beyond aesthetics, these blades are made with VG10 stainless steel, a popular Japanese steel which provides superior edge retention and function for everyday use. Its “Hamaguri” blade shape, which is a convex grind identical to traditional Samurai swords, offers a clean and effortless cut. The intricate hammer-forged pattern not only looks amazing, but also helps with food release.
