Morihei Hishiboshi "火 Hi" Fire Series

Morihei 森平 has a long standing history of manufacturing whetstones since 1933. The Fire (火 Hi) series is made from a proprietary blend of natural and synthetic stones and are known for their resemblance to sharpening on Japanese Natural Stones (JNATs).

If you're looking to achieve a Kasumi (hazy) finish on your blades, the stones from #4000 grit and up in this collection are excellent options. They are able to bring out the contrast between the Hagane & Jigane (hard and soft steels) of the knife blade, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Troubleshooting:

If your edge is sharp in some areas but not in others, check that you have deburred consistently throughout the edge. Also, make sure you have a consistent sharpening angle throughout the length of the blade.

You may have microchips on the edge if your edge cannot achieve sharpness at specific points on the edge. You may use a 400 grit stone or lower to remove these microchips.
