The Hatsukokoro Shirasagi by Myojin single bevel collection is designed as a range of high performance tools made with top-tier craftsmanship, but offered at accessible pricing. Myojin Riki Seisakusho is a small family workshop based in Kochi, Tosa. Father Tateo Myojin specializes in single bevel sharpening, while son Naohito Myojin focuses on double bevels. Both work alongside their main blacksmith, Toru Tamura - the same team behind the well known Tetsujin knives.
This sakimaru is hand-forged by Toru Tamura and sharpened by Tateo Myojin specifically for the Hatsukokoro brand. Made from Hitachi Aogami #2 (Blue #2) carbon steel and finished in a rustic kurouchi style, the blade offers superb sharpness and excellent edge retention. The 270mm blade length is ideal for users who prefer a balance between slicing efficiency and nimbleness.
Fitted with an octagonal wenge handle and a buffalo horn ferrule, the knife feels confident and comfortable in hand. As a traditional single bevel blade, it is suitable for right handed users only.
